Special Interest in Gynaecology, Chair of Women's Doctors Forum BIDA
Anita is a General Practitioner in Oldham with special interest in women’s health, educational lead Northwest FDA, and ex. Clinical Director for Vascular and Medicine Optimisation at Oldham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). Anita served as a locality member in the West Pennine Local Medical Committee and was the Editor of the LMC news- letter. She is a GP appraiser for NHS Oldham. She is an undergraduate trainer attached to the University of Manchester, trainer for Physician Associates. She is involved with University of Manchester in BRIT 2 project to help reduce antimicrobial prescribing. Previously she worked with Public Health England to address AMR and paper was published in BMJ. She has done various presentation on Westminster forum on Women’s health Strategy and Antimicrobial Resistance. She is the GP editor for the British Journal of Medical Practitioners and writes regularly in various GP magazines- Pulse, MIMS on clinical and practice development issues. She was a GP member of NICE Quality Standard Advisory Committee (QSAC) and Expert Advisors Panel for the NICE Centre for Guidelines for endometriosis. At present she is working with NICE to update menopause and Breast Cancer Guidelines. Anita has also produced recognised works in Obstetrics and Gynaecology winning the British Medical Association Medical Book Award in 2014 first prize for “Gynaecology in Primary Care: A Practical Guide”. Her other books mainly aimed for primary care are --COPD in Primary Care, Maximising Quality and Outcome Framework Quality Points and Peripheral Vascular Disease in Primary Care.” In March 2021 she developed Endometriosis Awareness North to help raise the awareness of Endometriosis, early diagnosis, and management. She has done various presentations on Endometriosis and menopause on various platforms. Andy Burnham Mayor of Manchester came to Oldham on 1st July 2022 to offer his support to her Charity. She is chair of Women’s Doctors Forum BIDA (British International Doctors Association) and her focus is on Women’s Health Strategy. The focus is not only on Gynaecological and Obstetrical issues but also the General Well Being of the women. She is president of Rochdale Inner Wheel.
